Twilight Twitches

fetscherJamuary...

Dear Family,
No, that’s not a typo. It really does say Jamuary, because we are – jammed!  Fortunately, we have a crackerjack staff who find toast on which to spread the mixture. Don’t count me in among the quick-to-respond; I just get to bask in the glow of the results.

I suppose it works that way in many places… people doing things behind the scenes that few know about, but still everyone expects results without knowing much about how the results result. I know there is a homily in here somewhere, but I have to figure it for myself before I can pass it along. My immediate personal bottom line is to spend a bit more than a little time in prayer today thanking God for the people with whom I work. You are especially grateful when for one reason or another they might not be here.

Let’s make that the homily for the moment: Pray in thanksgiving for the people you don’t see who are doing things for you without you even knowing it.

  • For example:
the guys who came and planted the new flowers in front of the church (and a few in front of my house.) we had talked about it but hadn’t set a date and then it just came at the right time…
  • the temple tenders who came and hung drapes and arranged stables and placed poinsettias… You should see Patricio raising those drapes…
  • the other temples tenders who wash and iron countless number of purificators so that there are always clean linens available for sacred use…
  • coffee and donut arrangers (who begin the night before) every Sunday…

The list could go on almost endlessly. Just thank God for them. They serve Him by serving YOU.

SAINT AUGUSTINE PILGRIMAGE
YOU HAVE NINE DAYS LEFT TO INDICATE IF YOU WANT TO JOIN THE GROUP MAKING THE LITTLE PILGRIMAGE TO ST. AUGUSTINE. Jan 28th is our
deadline. FORTY IS THE NUMBER WE NEED. THE DATES ARE February 29th through March 2nd. If you didn’t get the bulletin with the descriptive flyer you can find copies at the doors of the Church.

ADULT CONFIRMATION CLASSES
Beginning on Monday, February 1st at 7:00 p.m. and running through Monday, March 14th, I will be meeting with adults who would like to receive the sacrament of Confirmation. This is for practicing Catholics who for one reason or another were not confirmed. Often this comes to light when people are preparing for marriage.

Anyone who would like to share in our overview of sacraments, will be welcome. I am ordering materials and would like to hear from anyone who would like to join the group. CALL NOW and leave your name and phone number and just say I want to attend Adult Confirmation Class.

FOR THOSE WHO ARE ACTUALLY GOING TO RECEIVE CONFIRMATION, WE NEED A COPY OF YOUR BAPTISMAL CERTIFICATE. GET IT NOW!

PARISH MISSION
In keeping with our attempt to put good jam all over everything, please put Father Tom Boyer in your prayers who comes for our Parish Mission beginning on the First Sunday of Lent, February 14th. How about that! We give God a Valentine by sharing in the Parish Mission. On the 14th we will meet for Father’s presentation at 5:00 and follow it up with dinner. We’ll also have morning and evening sessions on Monday and Tuesday, the 15th and 16th, 8:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Keep on jamming,
In Jesus,
sign frjim
