Guest Twitchers: Little Rock Scripture Study Team
Dear Sisters and Brothers,
At some point in the wee hours of Monday morning, I (Annie) awoke with the thought: “There is no one lined up to write the ‘Twitch’ for the coming Sunday!” The thought of asking someone to write a letter of some 400-500 words at the last minute was not at all appealing, so I felt a “Plan B” was in order. Should this week’s ‘Twitch’ page be blank - affording you the opportunity to write your own reflection?.... Should I find a relevant graphic to fill the page?... The thought finally occurred to me (Thank you, Holy Spirit!) to have some of the members of our Little Rock Scripture Study Team share their thoughts about beginning this program with St. Sebastian Parish Family. So... here they are!
T.J. and Jennifer Sharpe said, “Our family has seen firsthand how Church, prayer, and God can be a powerful healer. Spiritual development is easy to overlook when you don’t have an immediate “need” for answered prayers, but is essential to understanding how the Lord speaks to us in everyday ways. Neither of us have much experience reading the Bible, so learning how to listen to the Word outside of Sunday morning Mass has been enlightening. We are looking forward to helping guide our family and friends on their journey to hear God’s messages through the teachings of His son, Jesus.”
Mary Kennedy writes, “I love each and every person here at St. Sebastian. I wish you could truly understand how necessary our parish community is to my well-being. The Word of God, the Sacraments, and - most of all - each of you warms my heart. I am needy and you are my refuge.”
Carole Duksta said, “What an opportunity we have for our parish with the Little Rock Scripture upon, and shared in a caring community! We are called to share God’s Word, so it helps if we read and understand it. The stories are powerful, encouraging and full of wonderful insights. The Holy Spirit will guide us!”
Steve Wiesner states, “At first, my impression about facilitating was that I couldn’t do this because of my lack of experiences and education in Scripture Study. My impression shifted when the “facilitator” role clicked. Everyday I have to facilitate discussions, and I always try to remember patience while working with others. So, facilitating Scripture Study helps participants engage and discuss how the Spirit of the Lord is in us. A realization reflected through sharing of experiences. I can do that!”
Nancy Adams writes, “Despite being a Catholic for my entire life (more than half a century), I would say I am illiterate when it comes to understanding the Bible. Of course, I can identify the key books (like Genesis, Matthew, Luke, John, etc.) but I want to be able to discern the Word of God as it is conveyed in the Bible. The Little Rock Scripture Study will provide me the motivation as well as the intellectual and spiritual support of my Parish Family as we pray, discuss and apply the Word of God. God does not come into our daily lives unless we make room for Him. The Scripture Study will be a new avenue for God’s presence and I will have a knowledge of the Bible to convey and to strengthen His presence.
And finally, Charlotte Newbury says, “ I am so grateful to be a part of our upcoming Scripture Study. Please consider coming to learn more about the Bible and the wonderful works of Jesus. I look forward to seeing many of you there.”
