Welcome to the Respect Life chapter of St. Sebastian Catholic Parish! We are a dedicated group of individuals committed to promoting the sanctity of all human life, from conception to natural death. Our mission is to foster a culture of love and support within our community. The Respect Life offices are a ministry of the Archdiocese of Miami. They offer FREE resources such as pregnancy tests, ultrasounds and layette items. Certified counselors help women and men heal after the loss of a baby from miscarriage or abortion. Our Respect Life chapter is inspired by the teachings of the Catholic Church and the Gospel of Life. We believe that every person is a unique and unrepeatable gift from God. We invite you to join us in our mission to build a culture of life, and to learn more about the various ways you can get involved. Together, we can make a difference in our community and in the world, as we strive to protect and cherish the inherent dignity of each human being.
ANNUAL PRO-LIFE EVENTS FOR THE PARISH
1st Friday of January (excluding holidays), 9:00 am: Council of Catholic Women’s general meeting: Baby Shower theme and Respect Life speaker. Parishioners are invited.
Catholic Days at the Capitol. Spring dates will vary for a Tuesday-Thursday trip. Lobby trip to Tallahassee is sponsored by the Florida Conference of Catholic Bishops. Red Mass at the Co-Cathedral Wednesday evening. Register at Secretariat for Parish Life. Fee includes bus, hotel and meals.
2nd Saturday in May, 12 noon Rosary Rally for Life at Our Lady Star of the Sea mosaic on north side of church. Programs are provided. Bring a folding chair and water. Commemorating the anniversary of Mary’s first apparition in Fatima.
October is Respect Life Month. Bassinet is placed in front of the lectern during the entire month. Bulletin announcements invite parishioners to donate layette items for the Respect Life Ministry.
1st Sunday in October, 2:00-3:00 pm Life Chain on University Drive in Broward County. Stand in public to witness to the sanctity of life. Signs are provided. Parishioners meet at 1:30 to carpool from St Sebastian to St. David, 3900 South University Drive.
2nd Saturday in October, 12 noon Rosary Rally for Life at Our Lady Star of the Sea mosaic on north side of church. Programs are provided. Bring a folding chair and water. Commemorating the anniversary of Mary’s final apparition in Fatima and the Miracle of the Sun.
