Dear Family,
Today our parish commemorates Bread for the World Sunday. The following article provides food for thought on the issue of hunger. I offer it for your reflection.

Dear Family,
Every time I hear the word “Tradition,” I think of Zero Mostel singing the song of the same name from “Fiddler on the Roof.” No one danced Tevye better than he did. Who better than Zero could help us remember one of our best traditions in the parish, Oktoberfest.
This Friday we gather once again to celebrate! Celebrate whatever you like. Fall colors! (In Flori¬da we watch the palm trees turn to a lighter green from the dark greens of summer.) Tapping beer kegs which amazingly appear on time under the careful guidance of our time-tested Brewmeister, Fred Schmid. Grilled sausages of varying types from Grillmeister, Brian McMahon. My personal favorite, a good sauerkraut.
Dear Family,
Pain. Strange word for a Twitch heading.
Ultimately from the Latin poena, the word relates to penalty or punishment, especially as it results from crime. Check out the Thesaurus and you’ll find a plethora of synonyms, I counted 37! Imagine, 37 different ways of describing human discomfort/agony. That’s some testament to the human experience.
There are all kinds of pain; physical, emotional, psychological, etc. You name it and you can usually find it somewhere.
For me, it seems I have experienced a small bushelful in the last couple of weeks.
Dear Family,
As I begin, I haven’t a clue as to where this Twitch is going or where it will end. SO, what else is new?
The process, though, is worth thinking about. I come not knowing what needs to be noticed, or announced, or celebrated, or mourned, but I sit down in front of the keyboard to try and make sense out of a jumble of thoughts.
And there you are! It’s the process of life itself, sorting things out as best you can and trying to deal with them one by one because there are no magic wands that simply let you go “Poof” and it’s all done without any further effort needed.
