Twilight Twitches

Dear Family,
How many wonderful events can you cram into one Sunday? Well, we’re trying our best. And mine actually begins with the memory of two weeks ago when we blessed our new shrine in honor of Our Lady, Star of the Sea. This is the first Twitch since Archbishop Keleher blessed the new space. I’ve heard nothing but great feed-back since. Once again, thanks to Chris O’Connor for providing the garden in honor of his parents. (I’ve been searching the archives of Holy Mother Church to see if anyone ever wrote an anti-iguana prayer. So far, all I get are vague references to St. Francis of Assisi...)

Dear Family,
What a word: Remain! Jesus tell his disciples to remain. The dictionary says, "to remain means to stay behind; be left behind; endure, abide, last."

Fr. Donagh O’Shea OP, remarked, “A favorite word in John's gospel and letters is 'abide' (or the rather colorless translation 'remain'): abiding in God, abiding in Christ, abiding in his word.... I counted thirty-seven. To abide is not to be a visitor, it is even more than being a friend, it is to be at home.”

In other words, Jesus told his disciples, ‘be at home in me. Be so comfortable with the idea of me being around that I become a part of the very air you breathe.’

Today is special because...

CONFIRMATION

Our good friend and periodic parishioner, Archbishop James P. Keleher, is confirming three of our young members. Yanelis Gacita, Ariana Guerin and Eavan Murphy will hear him say simply, “Be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Then he will mark their foreheads with Chrism, the perfumed oil that symbolizes a new strength God gives them. Ariana and Eavan have been faithful altar servers for many years and we rejoice with them as they continue their faith-walks.
