fetscher33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time
Dear Family,
It’s very touching to come across something and realize someone did something that blesses us without a lot of fanfare. Case in point: although Holland Nursery has been closed, and in fact the buildings have been taken down for some kind of development, nevertheless the spirit of Holland Nursery lives. All the flower baskets in the courtyard have been replaced. Holland’s owner, Matt Keyser, came with Charlie Patel who worked with Holland for a long time. Charlie has his own landscaping business now, but was not too busy to come and help, like old times. Thanks to the Keysers (Sandy comes with Matt) and Charlie.

fetscher32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time
Dear Family,
It was Halloween. At my front door I put a candle-lit pumpkin and a bowl of candy. I was going out to get dinner and I didn’t want to miss any kids.

When I returned all the candy was gone. Just as I was checking, a little group of kids came up and one no-more-than-four-year-old made a beeline for the bowl. When she saw it was empty, she “humphed” and stormed passed me muttering, “I walked all the way up here for NOTHING.” She left with entourage in tow. I felt badly that I had run out and also badly that at four, maybe younger, we already had a drama queen climbing the stairway of major pain-in-the-buttness. Alas, how early they learn.

fetscherFeast of All Saints
Dear Family,
“Saint” (from Dictionary.com) noun
1. any of certain persons of exceptional holiness of life, formally recognized as such by the Christian Church, especially by canonization.
2. a person of great holiness, virtue, or benevolence.
3. a founder, sponsor, or patron, as of a movement or organization.
4. (in certain religious groups) a designation applied by the members to them selves.

So… where do you fit? Maybe the better questions might be, “Where do you hope to wind up?” Another question might be, “How do you propose to get there?”

fetscherThirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Family,
This week is the first time in months that I went outside my house and thought, “This feels pretty good.” Slightly less humidity
and a little cooler. As I write it is day 17 of the AC in the rectory being on the fritz (well, half of it, anyway...) That’s why a pleasant outdoors is nicely timed. God provides when the permit office of the city of Fort Lauderdale does not.

Saturday 5 pm
(Sunday Vigil)
Sunday 8:30 am, 11 am
and 6:00 pm
Weekdays 8:30 am
(Mon. through Fri.)
Holy Days
(Schedule varies)
